June Wednesday Evening Open Paddles

Join Charles for a leisurely paddle on the La Salle River. This paddle starts and ends at the Canoe - Kayak Launch at La Barriere Park, just past the Paddle Manitoba Paddling Centre. Paddles depart at 7:00 pm sharp. You can join in two ways:
Bring your own Boat
You will also need your own paddles, pfd, whistle, throw bag and other Transport Canada required gear. Be sure to arrive with enough time to unload, park, and bring your boat to the launch. Fill out a waiver and bring it with you if you are planning to attend. You only need to complete one for the season.
Rent one of our Boats
Paddle Manitoba does have a limited number of canoes, kayaks and SUPs available for rent through our Paddling Centre at the launch for use during Wednesday Evening Open Paddles. PFDs, safety kits, and paddles are included. The fee for rental is $15 for members and $25 for non-members.
If you plan on renting, you must notify us by the Sunday before, complete and sign the rental agreement and waiver, and e-transfer the fee to treasurerpaddlemanitoba@gmail.com. Weather cancellations will defer to the following Wednesday Evening Open Paddle. Note that renters must arrive a minimum 30 minutes before departure at 7:00 pm and stay until the end of the event to be sure boats are cleaned and returned to the Paddling Centre.

With many dates to choose from, these one evening courses will focus on:
- kayak parts/terminology
- required safety equipment
- outfitting your kayak/foot braces
- launching and landing techniques
- body positioning/posture
- basic paddling strokes (forward, reverse and sweeps)
There is a minimum of three students required for each course and a maximum of twelve. Rescheduling will occur in the event that student minimums are not met. In the event of extreme weather (lightning, high winds, heavy rain), courses will be rescheduled. Participants will receive a list of required gear upon registering and you must provide your own equipment.
Course Fee: $65.00 for non-members, $55.00 for Paddle Manitoba Members

Rendez-Vous Rivyayr Seine

Get ready for a vibrant community paddling event along the breathtaking Seine River. Whether you're a seasoned paddler, or a first-time paddler, it's a day of connection, reconciliation, and Metis celebration. This is one event you don't want to miss!
Paddle Manitoba will be hosting one of the launch sites. We hope to see you there!
Help us out!
We have a number of volunteer opportunities for this event: One is at Panco Pond on the river to assist with participants to launch from that site. The second location volunteers are needed is at the takeout located at Gabriel Park.
All volunteers will get a food voucher, hot dog and drink or similar, able to stay and enjoy the entertainment after duties are done, and a ticket to the various draws taking place.

Join us for a stand up paddleboard clinic with all equipment provided and Paddle Canada certified instructor to help you "find your flow" to enjoy summer on the water! Beginners welcome!
$60 per person, with a portion going to support the Paddle Centre.

Be sure to mark you calendars and join us for the Grand Opening of the Paddle Manitoba Paddling Centre at La Barriere Park! Speeches by Acting Deputy Mayor Janice Lukes, Councillor for Waverly West, Deputy Mayor Markus Chambers, Councillor for St. Norbert - Seine River, Park Staff and the Paddle Manitoba Executive. We'll hit the water after at 7:00 for our Wednesday Evening Open Paddle. Canoes, SUPs and kayaks will be available for use. Come early and help us celebrate on and off the water!
