Canoe School will be offering, as its core program, the Paddle Canada Lake Canoe Tandem Introductory Instructor course.
In addition, two other Paddle Canada skills courses are being offered:
- Lake Canoe Introductory Tandem & Solo
- Canoe Tripping Skills Introduction
Paddle Canada – Lake Canoe Tandem Introductory Instructor:
The Paddle Canada Lake Canoe Introductory Tandem Instructor course is ideal for those wanting to teach tandem canoeing at the introductory level. It would be suitable for those wanting to become professional instructors, teaching canoeing in a camp setting as well as professional guides who have to teach canoeing skills to their clients. The emphasis of the course is on teaching rather than skills. Candidates will be expected to have paddling skills at the Paddle Canada ‘Lake Canoe Intermediate Tandem’ level. While certification at this level is not specifically required, candidates will be expected to demonstrate paddling skills to this level. Candidates may be awarded Paddle Canada certification at a lower level if they do not achieve the course level.
Paddle Canada – Lake Canoe Introductory Tandem & Lake Solo:
The Paddle Canada Lake Canoe Introductory Tandem & Solo courses teach the basics of tandem and solo paddling. These skills form the initial building blocks for all advanced courses. Canoe School is an excellent opportunity in a wonderful setting to explore the fundamentals of solo and tandem paddling, and develop the confidence and skills necessary to move into any disciple of paddling.
Paddle Canada – Canoe Tripping Skills Introduction:
The Paddle Canada – Canoe Tripping Skills Introduction course focuses on the skills and knowledge required to enjoy safe and fun overnight and day canoe paddling trips. The emphasis is on camping skills, trip planning, communication, navigation and trip leadership. The course is perfect for teachers, youth trip leaders, novice quides and everyone from the Scouts Canada programs who want to improve their canoe tripping skills.
