Open Paddles
Paddle Manitoba organizes paddling outings for the general public and members of Paddle Manitoba. These social evenings provide novices and experienced paddlers with the opportunity to paddle in relaxed, natural settings just minutes from home.
Regular outings will be run every Wednesday evening from May through the end of September. Periodic outings will also be organized in various locations around the province at other times.
Wednesday Night Paddles
Slip down the La Salle River, and you’ll soon forget that you are in Winnipeg. This dam-controlled river provides a great setting for a nature paddle in a park setting. There is a chance to see deer and beaver while learning the fine points of canoeing from your host, Charles Burchill.
Participants must provide their own paddle craft (canoe, kayak, sup), wear an appropriate PFD or lifejacket at all times on the water, and bring the minimum safety equipment - a whistle (or similar audible alarm device), bailer, and throw bag (buoyant heaving line).
There is no cost to these evening paddles, but participants must sign a Paddle Manitoba waiver.
Location
La Barriere Park, Waverley Ave
5km South of the Perimeter Highway
Launching above, or below the dam.
Times
